Colours!!! Something a bride (sometimes the groom as well) thinks about as the wedding plans commence. From what would complement the different skin tones of the brides’ maids to what combinations would work well together in the decorations.
Colors chosen say a lot about your personality and they set the mood or tone or ambience of a room.
Are you a minimalist, vibrant, bold or cool, calm and collected? Let’s take a look at what we call the primary colors (not going so much into their different variations) and get a little into what type of mood you would like to set especially at your wedding reception.
*Red*
The power color as some would say. The color of fervent love. Is there a love greater than Jesus’ Christ? Many a song say, His love ran red. Red is bold and vibrant and exudes passion or desire. It certainly draws one’s attention when they enter a room. Red is life itself it umps up ones ‘mood so if you are looking for high energy at your wedding, red would be great color.
*Green*
He makes me lie down green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. Psalms 23:2.
The color of freshness, new beginnings, flourishing, fruitfulness, growth, restoration. There are many variations of green. From the vividness of a tender shoot to a mature leaf of a tree. Green has a soothing effect that’s why its abundant in nature. In a room it creates a sense of rest and peace. So for a relaxed atmosphere, green is a wonderful choice.
*Blue*
The color of the sky, a representation of the heavenly realm.
Exodus 24:10
And they saw the God of Israel: and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness.
Blue also has a calming effect. It creates an atmosphere of tranquility, serenity, a sense of comfort. One’s imagination is taken to the ocean or seaside and you can almost see and hear the waves and feel the gentle breeze.
*Yellow*
A happy color. It just brings joy and happiness and warmth. Yellow brightness up a room and makes you feel youthful and hopeful A great variation of yellow is gold. Shows wealth, splendour. Gold is mentioned in scripture to show God’s glory, His anointing, wealth and majesty.
Job 37:22
Out of the north he comes in golden splendor;
God comes in awesome majesty.
Yellow puts a spring in your step and creates a sunny disposition in a room.
So emote or bring out the vibes that you would like at your wedding, look at the these as the main colours that feature and compliment them accordingly. Remember God’s glory above all.
