Hair is important to ladies and we are fortunate to have versatile styles. In some cultures, hair styles are great indications of stations in life or your status. Hair can tell us a bit about your personality. If you are bubbly, bold,daring,flirtatious, conservative, cool, calm and collected.A woman takes alot of pride in it. Deep conditioning, steaming, curling, straightening, colouring, trimming, shaping, braiding, weaving, locking you name it. The list is endless. Every time you leave the salon with a new do, your face radiates, you look younger and fresher and sprightly. Indeed it’s the crown that we wear and for it to look glorious it needs a nice ‘polish’
For your wedding you will Google every style under the sun, take screen shots and look for the very best hair dresser in town and do a demo before the D-day. No chances will be taken, no tress will be out of place or else heads will roll( just kidding).
In Uganda we have embraced the longer hair for your wedding. Tucking and pinning half of the morning before the ceremony. So is it written in stone that my sister with the shorter do would have to look for the best lace front or grow it out to have a weave installed for her wedding day? I say no.
“I give thanks and praise to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Wonderful are Your works,
And my soul knows it very well.
My frame was not hidden from You, When I was being formed in secret, And intricately and skillfully formed(as if embroidered with many colours)in the depth of the earth.” Psalms 139:14-15.
God made you so wonderfully unique, yes every single bit of you including style.
So why shd that beautiful side, that uniqueness be quelled on one of your best days, your wedding. I love how the natural hair move has come along these last couple of years. Though a bride with short cropped hair….not so much.
Why cant you have your glorious afro on full display either?
Ladies that cut their hair short carry the look perfectly. The facial features are accentuated and after the face beat ,wow, even better.
So you can renew the little twists, do a blow out to define the little curls, evenly shape your afro.
The concern is how will I accessories it? How will I wear my veil. Well there are a dime a dozen options out there. We shall tackle it when we get to veils next time. You are beautiful with long or short hair. Stay true to who you are. More so on your wedding day. Let God’s splendour within you come forth all day every day.
